What Does DD * Mean on a Bank Statement?

DD * is the prefix DoorDash puts in front of its charges. What follows tells you which kind of charge it is: a restaurant name means a food order, and DOORDASHDASHPASS means the DashPass subscription.

DashPass is where the confusion lives. It is frequently taken up as a free trial during checkout, converts to a paid membership automatically, and then renews monthly or annually under a descriptor that names neither the restaurant nor the date of any order you remember placing.

Don't recognize a DD * charge? Do this

  1. Open DoorDash › Account › Manage DashPass. The start date there tells you which order the trial was attached to.
  2. Check the amount against the plan: DashPass bills monthly or annually, and an annual renewal is easy to mistake for a fraudulent charge because it is several times the size of a normal order.
  3. To stop it, cancel inside DoorDash — End Subscription. Removing the card does not reliably stop it; DoorDash can update card-on-file details.
  4. Cancelling stops the next renewal but does not refund the current one by default. Ask DoorDash support directly if the charge is recent — they can refund a renewal within a short window.
  5. A DD * charge naming a restaurant instead is an order: match it in Orders, and remember a pre-authorization can be higher than the final total before the tip is settled.

Common questions

What is DD *DOORDASHDASHPASS?

The DoorDash DashPass membership renewing. It is a subscription charge, not a food order — which is why there is no restaurant name in the descriptor and no matching delivery in your history.

I never signed up for DashPass — why am I being charged?

DashPass is commonly offered as a free trial at checkout and converts to a paid membership automatically when the trial ends. Manage DashPass in your DoorDash account shows the date it started.

How do I stop a DD *DOORDASHDASHPASS charge?

Cancel in the DoorDash app: Account › Manage DashPass › End Subscription. Cancelling the card alone is not reliable, because the card details on file can be updated automatically.

Can I get the last DashPass charge refunded?

Often yes if you ask promptly. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period automatically — contact DoorDash support and ask for the renewal to be reversed.
